Distress Ink in two Tones

This was a fun Kaszazz Worksop. It basically uses two tones of Distress Ink; Shabby Shutters and Broken China and you just kind of rub it on alternately and then stamp away to finish it off. Isn't the Kaszazz Daisy punch such a beautiful effect around the edge of the white page pieces?

I did this layout with my Kaszazz upline, it was such a lovely afternoon since I don't often get a chance to chat with her.

Chipboard Background for a Heading

This layout is based on a Kaszazz workshop, I loved the way it used the chipboard background as the heading and I enjoyed using pink and green together, it's just such a pleasing combination to work with. I coloured the chipboard using Colorbox Frost White pad direct to the chipboard.

My Sassy Princess

For this layout I used the Purple Twilight and Cloudy Blue Paint Dabbers along with the Girls Stuff stamp set and some chipboard letters. It was a fun layout to do in some of my daughters favourite colours.

This is a Kaszazz workshop and now that I've done it I think I might do something similar with the Boys Stuff stamp and some more boy looking colours for a layout for my son.

Butterfly Garden

This might be my new favourite layout, it is a Kaszazz workshop and it's just so much fun.

Using the butterfly punch I punched out all of these butterflies and then used non-permanent tape runner to attach them to the page. Fill the Mini Mister about three quarters full with water and then add a few drops of Distress Ink Broken China Ink and give it a shake. Spritz over the top of the page concentrating on half of the page. Remove the butterflies and you have a white page where the butterflies used to be. Turn the butterflies upside down and remove the non-permanent tape from them then stamp them with a bit of the flourish stamp used on the page and mount them. I used some Magic tape so that the wings would pop up a little for a bit of a 3D effect.

60 for 20 Layouts

This was a special offer that Kaszazz had where we got $60 worth of product for $20, I did both of these layouts from the pack with heaps left over at the end.

I used Cloudy Blue and Purple Twilight paint dabbers direct to the stamps for the headings and decorated the pages using some of the ribbon and stickers included in the pack.

I stamped the journaling box for the canoe layout using Colorbox Frost White.

Beach Layout with shimmery effects

On this layout I used my Mini Mister and filled it three quarters of the way with water then added a couple of drops of ColorBox Dune ink and a tiny little bit of Perfect Pearls Sunflower Sparkle.... maybe about an eighth of a teaspoon then gave it a shake and spritzed it over the cream card.

I washed out the Mini Mister and refilled it three quarters of the way with water and added a couple of drops of Broken China Distress Ink and a tiny bit of Turquise Perfect Pearls. I spritzed this over the blue card. I did some stamping with the Colorbox Dune and Distress Ink Broken China over the top.

This is a Kaszazz workshop and I just loved the sparkly effect the layout has because of the Perfect Pearls.

Curly Border Park Layout

This is further proof of my love of all things curly, swirly and flourishy. For the cream strip I used the Kaszazz Curly Background stamp several times with Peeled Paint Distress Ink to make it into a border. Where you see the dark green with the cream curls, I used the same stamp but embossed it using Perfect Medium and Top Boss Clear Embossing Powder first and then used the Peeled Paint Distress Ink over the top of it. I like the kind of reverse effect that gave.

Spiderman Effect

Don't you love how turning a spiderman crawling photo upside down gives you such a cool spiderman effect?

This was a collection of photos of my son that I included together into a layout for him. He absolutely loves this layout and has such joy when reading (or rereading) the sentiments.

This was a bit of stamping and pen detail. The layout is based on a Kaszazz workshop.

Stamped up Layout using Page and Pockets

This was such a fun layout to do. I love all of the curls and swirls and flourishes that Kaszazz make, they are just such handy stamps whenever you need some area filled up. To stamp onto the dark colours I used a paint dabber direct to my stamps and Colorbox ink to stamp in the lighter blue areas.

I used the Treasured Memories stamp for the tree branch effects but the Love and Cherish tree would have worked too and that even has a bird stamp in it which would have worked well for the bird element. Since I didn't yet own that stamp at that stage I stamped and then cut out the bird from the Wish List Tag stamp.

Doesn't the use of the 12x12 layout combined with the 4x6 pocket pieces give it such a great overall effect. This is my favourite layout.

Opalescent Embossing Powder Snow

To create the heading I stamped the letters using the Colorbox Frost White. For the snow I stamped using the Frost White and then embossed using Top Boss Opalescent Embossing Powder, it gives such a fabulous effect. I love the way it catches the light and gives such a shimmery effect.

Book Mark Page Element

This was a layout that was based on a Kaszazz card and bookmark workshop. Distress ink was used to make it look a bit more 'aged'. The splodge stamp works really well for this sort of background making on the layouts. The hearts and flowers were punched out using various punches. The rhinestones and ribbon just give a little finishing touch to the whole thing don't they?

Distress Inking my Flower Girl

Out in the garden is just such a typical place for me to find my darling girl. She says she wants to be an artist. Do you think she loves flowers because she loves the garden or do you think she loves flowers because they are a bit like natures art?

On the tags of this layout I was playing around with some distress ink effects. Just rubbing the distress ink onto the tags. Seeing what happened if I emboss some stamped areas and then rub on the distress ink. Playing with water - splashing splodges on and then setting with the heat gun. Putting Perfect Medium onto the stamp first and then spritzing some water onto it before water stamping onto the tag and heat setting with the heat gun. All fun distress ink effects.

I wanted to put a 'frame' around one of my photos, so I just used the non-permanent tape runner on a piece of 5x7 inch paper and smudged distress ink out from the paper, then removed the paper. This left a neat frame for my 4x6 inch photo.

Finally I stamped the heading and journal boxes.

Rub Ons and Smooch Journey The Road Less Travelled

I was playing around with a rub on border and then just used some Smooch to colour in some highlights here and there. All of the heading is done with rub ons. The dragonfly stamp has also had some highlights coloured in using Smooch.

I used a single hole punch to punch out some brown dots to fill in the blank spot at the right of the layout and then thought to myself that it was a shame to throw away the strip of brown paper that it left so I grabbed the leftover blue strip and leftover brown strip and made them into a card, finishing the card off with a final bit of rub on detail.

Memory Essentials to fill in the background

This has been one of the layouts in my "unfinished - still needs something" album. There was something missing to tie it all together and give it a completed look.

I had used the water crayons and water pens with a direct to stamp effect for the corner pink and yellow centered flowers. Since there were already pink flowers the Memory Essentials Tool with the flower head seemed an ideal option. Dusty Concord Distress Ink was stamped onto the corner triangles and Worn Lipstick Distress Ink was stamped onto the main background of the actual pages.

I suddenly realized what I could do and grabbed out the Memory Essentials and put the flower head onto it and stamped away in the background of these pages.

I used the temporary tape on the edge of a piece of paper so that I could mask away the elements already attached to the page so that I could add the background flower element without having to completely pull apart the layout. It was super quick and easy and I'm so happy with the result.

Indian Lady

I was playing around with a paper doll earlier tonight. This beautiful Indian lady was the result. I used eyelets for the beads in her hair and just cut out paper and did pen detail over it for the girl and her dress. Stickfigure ATC Swap

I used clear Boss Embossing Powder to emboss some flowers on my white paper and then used Ranger Distress Ink to color the background and then drew on my stickfigure. The hat, bag and clothes and all made using paper and then I used Glossy Accents to make the hat, bag and clothes stand out a bit more. The Relax message is part of the Kaszazz ATC stamp set.

Love the crumpled effect

I had a creative moment with my daughter and we worked on a crumpled effect using Ranger Distress Ink and Top Boss Clear Embossing Powder, it was a fun effect.

I did the chicks rule! card and my daughter did the birthday card. Don't they look different with different colors used.

Nature ATC Dolls

You don't see the luminescent effect on the winter ATC doll as well as I would like, but you can kind of get the idea. I stamped the winter leaves in ColorBox Frost White and then embossed using Top Boss Opalescent Clear. The summer ATC doll was done using peeled paint distress ink and some green chalk. Both of the faces were done just free hand adjusting a tree face image using a black pen. The original tree image was emailed to me so I'm not too sure where it came from.

The theme of these ATC dolls was 'Nature'. So that was fun thinking of ways to represent some aspects of nature. Again this is for a theme at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ATC-ArtDolls/

Giraffe Card

I had so much fun playing around with this card. The design layout and techniques were slightly adapted from the Technique Junkie Feb/March issue. The image is a Kerry Jo Doodle... cute isn't it?

The colour is added by using Ranger Distress Ink Walnut, Lyra Aquacolor Crayons and Pebbles Inc. Chalks.

More Blocks of color Birthday Card

It's a lot of fun to put together bits of paper out of my paper stash onto my cards to give big blocks of color. Not only does it give a great quick effect, but uses up some of those odd bits of paper that sit around in my stash waiting and waiting.

The daisy image was stamped using Ancient Page Coal Black and then colored using the Kaszazz water crayons.

Ribbon and Button Stamp Birthday Cards (Card template: MOJO123)

You'll never guess - I did another male birthday card. Male cards are so much harder than female cards aren't they? I also did a girls card too. I was playing around with the Mojo Monday card template http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/ and thought it was such a good chance to use the Kaszazz button stamps again. I just stamped them onto coloured card stock and cut them out and then mounted them with little foams so that the buttons had a bit of dimension.

If you could see them in person you would see that I also used a sharp needle to poke a hole at each point on the button (where the hole detail is on the stamped image) to also add to its dimensional effect, but this didn't show up too well in the photo... you'll have to trust me it's there. ;)

Birthday Teddy Leaves Card for a 7 year old boy

A birthday card for a 7 year old boy. Walnut Stain Distress Ink for the stamping of leaves on the background. Ancient Page Coal Black for the teddy stamp and then water crayons were used on the teddy.

Hmmm the colors don't look right on this image the background papers are actually all shades of brown with Walnut Stain Distressed Ink for the leaves, but this image makes it look like a grey background ... I don't know how to fix that, so you will need to use a bit of imagination with the background colors to imagine what it looks like in person.

Pop Up Dream Birthday Girl Card

I needed to make a birthday card for a 12 year old girl. I kind of adapted a card idea from a Kaszazz workshop - to make a more grown up version of the pop up card. I was quite pleased with the results. It folds down flat to go into the envelope and then opens up onto its own little box stand once it is out of the envelope.

Surely Older Boys Like Teddies Still ??!!??

What do you do when you unexpectedly find you have to do two older boys cards and then suddenly discover that the only kind of boy type stamp you own is of teddy bears. Is there a way to sell a teddy stamp to an older boy as appropriate? Remember that he is receiving the card in amongst all of his friends. Hmmm? No, no way, uh uh, nope, not going to happen!

Well whoever that was that said that desperation is the mother of all invention may have found themselves in this same position. When forced to realize that you can't rely on same old, same old techniques you have to think outside of the box a little.

You know all those vellum sayings that all seemed perfect for a one day project? Hey some of those have fishing or sporting or other older boy/man type saying I suddenly remember. Running with joy to my cart I pull out a sports page and hey presto... just what I needed. My vellum sheet in hand a tiny bit on inspiration. YAY!!!

Beary Much Enjoying Life

I found a moment to make a card yesterday, I wanted to play with the ATC Words set of stamps I ordered from Kaszazz last month.

The bear was stamped onto white card and then coloured using my Kaszazz water crayons and chalks. The buttons were stamped on green and the 'thread' coloured in using water crayons. The brads in the 'enjoy' plaque were part of the 60 for 20 pack we got from Kaszazz a while ago, it's been kind of fun thinking up things that I can do with those surprise bits and pieces too.

Christmas Card Fun

Well Katelin tells me there is only 6 weeks left until Christmas.... where has this year gone?!?!

I had some time to play around with the girls last weekend and make some Christmas Cards. We did some paper piecing... which means paper, pencil and templates.... and this is what we came up with. I did the 9 cards and then Jacqui - bless her heart wishing you all YOJ of the season ... pretend it says JOY. ;) adapted the idea for a couple of gift tags. Katelin says she is going to use hers as elements on her Christmas scrapbooking page.... but she might attach them to cards anyway... it's hard for her when she likes mine to not follow along with what I've done.... but what clever kids I have.

I have a couple of other stamping Christmas cards I've done that I'll explain to you next Sunday, (which I will not put up here yet ... because that would be peeking ) and of course a different quick and beautiful little Christmas card idea for you all to have a go at yourselves. I can't wait to share them with you... they are cool ideas. Of course I also did the techniques as scrapbook layouts too for you to see how to include the ideas there too.... and I was really happy with the layouts when I finished ... which was extra special.

Gradual Distress Tag Fun

Hey guess what? I pulled out of my Kaszazz box some Distress Ink Pads and have had so much fun playing around with them. I can't wait for Sunday's workshop to come around so that I can share some Distress Ink ideas with you.

I was just playing around with this layout, can you see the tags along the right hand side? Basically as you go down they have more and more distressed effects added to them. The top one is just plain then the next is just edged finely. The third one is just edged thickly with Distress Ink and the bottom one has both the Walnut and the Antique Linen Distress Ink used. Neat effect isn't it?

Distressed Ink Effects

Hey distressed inks are so much fun!

This is the effect when using the blending tip and applying the Antique Linen Distressed Ink and the Vintage Photo Distressed Ink. Isn't that a lovely way of creating a bit of colour and warmth to your project?

You won't believe how easy it is to use the distressed inks and how easy it is to blend them in together for a combined effect. I can't wait to play with some distressed inks with you at our next workshop, I think we are all in for a treat! I can't wait.

Chalk Effect: Gentle touches of colour

This is another fast and fun way to add colour to our projects.

Using the acid free chalking sets gives such a lovely subtle little bit of colour. The applicator tool was so easy to use. Also, since there are enough little applicator balls for every colour and they are all reusable, you don't even have to worry too much about the wrong colours accidentally getting onto your work. Now that's neat!

This is the card my 11 year old daughter put together within just 2 or 3 minutes and again almost no clean up at the end. Oh I love that! Can you see the gentle pink and yellow colours that she added over the top of the stamped image in the center panel of the card? It's such a neat subtle effect isn't it?

The perfect coloured in effect

I think the Aquacolor Crayons and Aquash Brush might just be our new best friends!!
I'm in love!

The thing that has always put me off using stamps is just how labour intensive colouring them in has been. Well I was just blown away by how easy it was to colour in the image just using these fantastic Kaszazz products! The Aquacolor Crayons team up so well with the Aquash brush and it's such a cost effective way of using them because it uses so little of the actual crayon. The other nice thing was that there was no big clean up to do when the children all finished... YAY!!!

This card was done inside of about 3 or 4 minutes by my 10 year old son! Shhh don't show this to his nanna yet.
