There are two sets of thinlits available, at $55.95 each.  This includes the die to cut the card shape, as well as 8 or 9 other smaller dies which you can use with your swing card or as embellishments for any of your cards/scrapbook pages.

Blending Stampin' Write Markers.

I have been asked a few times recently how to use the Stampin' Up! Markers to get an effect something similar to the Copic Markers effect and how I manage to get the colour to blend together, so I have put together a little list here of the colours I blend together when I'm colouring in stamped images. I start by colouring the whole area in the lightest colour and then shade where the shadow (i.e. the darker area) would be in the middle colour and blend it using the lightest colour. Once I'm happy with that I then use the darkest coloured marker just in the places I want to be dark such as the edges which would be furthest away from the light source (i.e. where it would naturally be the absolute darkest) with the darkest colour, again using the lightest marker to blend it.

Here is the chart I have put together with the colours I usually blend together... for these colour swatches I have imagined the light source is at the bottom right of the screen so that is where the lightest colour would naturally be... getting darkest at the top left of the colour swatches:

The instructions for the skin .... (which it turns out are too small to read here unless you are Superman!)  ....  say to use a small acrylic block and scribble on about 2/3 of it with the Soft Suede and then on the remaining 1/3 of it with the Calypso Coral. Use the blender pen to combine the colours and then use a scrap piece of paper to lose some of the intensity of the colour before using the blender pen to colour a very light version of the mixed colour to your stamped image. (Adjust the ratio of these two colours to get a more or less brown toned colour.)

When finished colouring the skin tone you can clean the block and then using just Calypso Coral from the block onto your blending pen, again use scrap paper to lose the intensity of the colour before using it, add just to the cheeks as a hightlight.

If you haven't seen me colouring recently, this is a great video that I found online that explains how to colour in using the markers.... (Note: Where I use the acrylic block to scribble some marker on before picking it up with the blending pen this video shows using the plastic box the markers come in to scribble out some marker colour .... really you can use any non-porous surface you have to hand for this purpose.)

Now, remember that the Stampin' Up! markers are water based so stamp your image using Staz-On ink first so that the stamped image does not bleed. Also, if I had remembered to buy some Watercolor Paper when I put in my last Stampin' Up! order it would have made my life much easier... but I persisted with the regular Whisper White cardstock and was happy with the blended colours.... why do anything the easy way? lol So, grab out your markers and come play along with me... this is one of those techniques that gets easier with practice. Share with me what you have made.... I love seeing what you create.

Friends by choice

I love having a week off... I get to spend some time to create just for me ....

This is a fun layout for the kids and also happens to team up some favourite colours...... any time I use any form or orange I really struggle... but I was happy with how the Pumpkin Pie went together with the Pool Party and the Pear Pizzazz ... I'm really enjoying Pear Pizzazz... I hope you are too.

To help me overcome my fear of orange, I used this color combination from CAS - Colours & Sketches:

Except of course I used Pear Pizzazz ... the beautiful Pear Pizzazz.

I teamed up this color combination with this sketch inspiration from Scrapbook Challenges:

Sketch352_zps3adc8067

Well... a kind of sideways version of the sketch... which just adds to the fun.... if you lay down and squint at the screen you'll see it. ;)

Have some fun with one or both of these challenges, and as always share the results with me... I love seeing your creations.

Horsing Around........ Colour & Sketch Challenge

I'm really enjoying the new colour range in the new catalogue... here is a layout that I did last night ....

Hope you enjoy this project. I used this color combination:

I teamed up this color combination with this sketch inspiration:

I made a few changes just to make it my own, as the project seemed to take on its own life, you know how it is, but I just love how starting with a sketch gives you the basic form of a project which just needs some of your own creative flavours added... this is such a great starting point on the days when you just feel a bit creatively challenged ...... have a go at creating something with this color combination or this sketch... or both......and share it with me... I'd love to see what you create.

Oh and hey... did you know the July stamp of the month set is butterflies... don't you just love how elegant butterfly images are?  You can click on the image below to go to see the set at my online store if you would like some more detail:

New Catalogue Project ...................... and a challenge

The new Stampin' Up! catalogue is all set to start July 2, 2013.... but being a demonstrator means we get to see everything early and even get to play with some things in the pre-release.... I felt sure you would want to see something we've been playing with! ;)

I thought this could be made into a scrapbook page too... don't you? Imagine that I've stamped up kind of 3/4 of the page on the diagonal like this with this June 2013 Best of Flowers stamp... added a central mat to it and then the embellishment created here with the stamps and framelit set from the new catalogue... add some photos..... perfect.

Challenge:
Grab a card you love and 'upsize it' to adapt it to a scrapbook page... or the other way around.... grab a scrapbook page you love and shrink it down and adapt it to a card.

Show me what you end up creating ........ let's be inspired to be creative together. :)
